Merry Christmas and Happy New Year from all of us at Texas Psychobilly! A great sci-fi/horror magazine called Mars Dust just posted online their in-depth feature on psychobilly subculture. Check out MarsDust Magazine to read this entertaining piece of work!

April 28, 2006 We know it's been a long time since we've had an update. There's been a lot going on so here's a summary:

October 24, 2005
We think it's officially autumn in Texas because the high today is 68 and the low is 39. Just in time because no one wants sweaty balls or boobs in their Halloween costumes down here in the lonestar state. What's going on in Texas for Halloween? Well let's start with tonight: a Q&A, photo and autograph session with the infamous Gunnar "Leatherface" Hansen from the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre movie! No better way to celebrate Halloween in Texas wouldn't you say? Check out live music from The Cutthroats, Sick City Daggers and Saturday Nite Shockers as well as body suspension from Cicatrix. Texas Chainsaw Massacre playing all night long.

We regret to inform you that 12 Step Rebels will be unable to make their performance for the Blood Feast III dates in San Antonio and Dallas. We received the following explanation:

After 5 years of focusing on nothing but the band it was decided to call a break to 12SxRx. Jakob has chosen to pursue college full time and Nate has decided to focus on things of a personal matter as well. With those decisions, Chad will be focusing all his attention on his other band with fellow members of the 12SxRx family, Ian and Jefe. This project had slowly been in the works for some time but was also put on hold like many other things in our lives due to the demanding schedule of 12SxRx.
We want to stress to everyone who has supported the band over the years and believed in us that we would never want this decision to take away from our continued gratitude - we all love what this band has brought to our lives and will always appreciate everyone we've met along the way.
Again, this is not necessarily quits for the band - we all still consider each other family - but don't expect to see much from 12SxRx in the immediate future at this point. If you see tour dates being advertised, unless you read about it here it's not happening - all future touring has been put on hold as of right now due to these events.
~12SxRx

To all the fans who are planning on coming to Blood Feast 3, thank you for any understanding in this matter that was out of our control. In an effort to make up for losing 12SxRx from the lineup, we have now dropped the ticket price to $12 at the door and only $8 pre-sale (+$1 PayPal fee) in our shows section. Thanks for your support!

The Demented Are Go! show is back on in San Antonio, TX... although it's two days later now, on Thurs Nov 18th. The venue has also switched and is now at Sin 13 (1902 McCullough, SA TX). We apologize for the delay in bringing this performance to town and apologize for any inconveniences experienced by DAG fans due to the delay. Long story short, the band did not make their original scheduled appearance due to the fact that the European booking agency that was responsible for booking the band's flights in America on this tour, failed to execute his job (which is a whole other story entirely). Because of the agency's failure to buy the necessary plane tickets, DAG were not able to make their show this past Tuesday in San Antonio. Please let it be known that this mishap is not the fault of Demented Are Go! In fact, in an effort to make up the missed performance date, Demented Are Go! are now driving to Texas from California in order to play a make-up show. Please come out and support all of our efforts on this one as it almost didn't happen at all. Again, the Demented Are Go! show is now scheduled for this Thursday Nov 18th at Sin 13 (1902 McCullough) in San Antonio, TX. ALSO, the ticket price has been dropped to $10 at the door. Hellbound Hearse from Houston opens the show. Doors are at 730pm. All Ages. Bring your own booze!!!

September 21, 2004
The holidays are among us!  This is our favorite time of year for the Texas Psychobilly Company.  Fuck the summer... it's too hot in Texas to do anything outside for more than 12 seconds.  Summer be gone, on with Autumn and Winter!  First there's Halloween, then it's Thanksgiving, after that it be glorious Christmas... and then it's a brand spanker of a new year.  Goodie Goodie Fuckdrops.  Between the Texas Psychobilly Company, HairBall8 Records, and the PSYCHOBILLY*US label... the following is what your psycho ass can be shaking to in the coming months:
OCTOBER 1st
In celebration of the Halloween season, HairBall8 Records and the PSYCHOBILLY*US label has released a redux version of their psychobilly compilation "Kicked Outta Purgatory".  Nekromantix , Demented Are Go! , Mad Sin , HorrorPops , Guana Batz , Barnyard Ballers , Koffin Kats , 12 Step Rebels , Asmodeus , Concombre Zombi , Coffin Creeps , Demon City Wreckers , Banane Metalik , The Livends , Photon Torpedoes , Gutter Demons , Knock 'Em Stiff , Beverly Killbillies ( featuring Kim Nekroman ) , Hayride to Hell , Pagan Dead , The Formaldehydes , Stitch Hopeless & The Sea Legs , Kings of Nuthin' and several more appear on this compilation CD.  Want to know what the best part is?  Starting October 1st, the "Kicked Outta Purgatory" CD is available for $5.99 on counter-tops in every single Hot Topic store nationwide.  That's over 550 stores to choose from.  Pick one up at this unbeatable price while they last because they won't be available for that price anywhere else--expect the price to be double that online and in other retail outlets.  You will never again find a smoking psycho compilation like this for $5.99.  For a limited time.
OCTOBER 7th - 12th
12 Step Rebels are back in the lonestar state to celebrate their new full length record "Go Go Graveyard Rockin" out today 9/21/04.  Pick this up...it's a surefire winner for your cold, cold psycho heart.  San Antonio, Brownsville, Austin, Dallas and El Paso are the cities where 12SxRx will rock you Texas Psychos...check our "shows" section for details.  Come out and support one of the best and hardest working bands in American Psychobilly... 12 Step Rebels!
OCTOBER 22nd - 25th
Starlite Wranglers are flying straight from Japan to San Antonio, TX to give you lonestar sickos a dose of traditional hillbilly psycho...delivered in a way that only a remarkable Japanese psycho-rockabilly trio like the Wranglers can deliver it.  Check our "shows" section for exact dates, cities and venues.  Expect talent and fun galore from these guys as they make their way out to California for the 2nd Annual West Coast Wreckers Ball
OCTOBER 29th - 30th
All of us at the Texas Psychobilly Co and HairBall8 Records won't be far behind the Starlite Wranglers...except of course we're all actually flying out to the Wreckers Ball 2 so we'll actually probably beat those Japanese road dogs to Hollywood...where we'll be setting up camp for the entire Halloween weekend at the Knitting Factory.  Come say "hello" to us at the HairBall8 / TX PSY vendor booth in between the stupendous lineup of psychobilly talent at the Wreckers Ball. The Quakes , Os Catalepticos , Asmodeus , Cenobites , Frenzy , The Caravans , Mad Heads , Barnyard Ballers , Starlite Wranglers , Peter Pan Speedrock , Coffin Nails and our very own Texas Psychos Concombre Zombi will be performing among a shit ton of other great psycho bands.  If you're not going to the 2nd Annual West Coast Wreckers Ball , start kicking yourself right now and get it over with.  The adrenaline and momentum built up from the disastrous never-executed Macabre festival has only served to build up the anticipation for the Wreckers Ball this Halloween.  Seriously, if you're not going...what are you doing and what the hell are you thinking?  Figure out how to get there buttfucker.
NOVEMBER 5th - 7th
Woah hang on...okay so maybe you just can't get to Hollywood for the Wreckers Ball 2 .  There's financial concerns of course...we understand.  Well not only did we bring you Starlite Wranglers before the WB2, we're also straight cold bringing it on once we get back to Texas as well.  Asmodeus and Peter Pan Speedrock will be performing three WB2 overflow shows in San Antonio (Sam's), Austin (Red Eyed Fly) and Dallas (TBA).  Concombre Zombi and Coffin Creeps will be playing the support slots on designated shows (check the "shows" section).  So you see... you will not miss out on everything from the Wreckers Ball 2.. .we're bringing part of the fun home to our loyal Texas psychos.
NOVEMBER 16th - 18th
The notorious Demented Are Go! will be pillaging through our great state on yet another American adventure and with yet another new lineup.  Expect "Part III" of the DAG interview chronicles to appear in the "Features" and "Interviews" section on this site sometime in October before DAG's tour.  You will be shocked, enlightened and thrilled... the very reactions DAG are best at getting from their international Demon Ted fanbase.
FIRST PSYCHO FRIDAY (December 3rd)
As we head into the final month of the year...preparing to buy our friends and families presents they don't deserve...take a minute to think...a minute to think about where we Texans would be without the almighty Flametrick Subs and sexy Satan's Cheerleaders?  I don't want to think about where we'd be!  And you don't have to either as you head down to Sam's Burger Joint for some holiday fun on "First Psycho Friday" in December to witness the Subs and the Cheerleaders... as they rock n' jiggle your egg-noggered ass onto the dance floor to shake it, shake it, shake it all the way into the new year. Last but not least... an emphatic salute to Salt Lake City Psychos the  PAGAN DEAD , who recently passed through Texas on their tour supporting the release of their PSYCHOBILLY*US label debut full length: "MORS IANVA VITÆ ET VITA IANVA MORTIS".  Trashy Death Metal Psycho for the kids... available in our little online shop on this very site. There you go KO from ASMODEUS!  How's that for a muthafuckin' update yo?!

May 13th, 2004
Hi Everybody...it's been a long time between updates we know. So...sorry! I guess I'll start with the most recent live shows we've had come through this great state called Texas. Last week saw the Hellcat Records "Punks Vs. Psychos" tour blow through San Antonio, Austin, Houston and Dallas. 12 Step Rebels are gathering new fans like the Pied Pipers of Psychobilly in their opening slot on this tour and Tiger Army made a triumphant return to Texas and proved once again...that they do not die.

I can speak for the Nekromantix show in San Antonio at Sin 13 this past Saturday May 8th...this was a band at the top of their game. I seem to forget just how entertaining Kim is on stage until I witness the power with my own eyes. Our very own Concombre Zombi opened this evening with their rowdy blend of slap back psycho that only they can deliver. Also impressive sets from Rocket De Ville and The Cutthroats. Muchas Nachos to those of you who bought up the Texas Psychobilly work shirts and girlies. We still have some girlie black tank tops with the pink Web/Skull print and should be posting them up in the shop very soon. If any of you want to get a girlie tank top for summer right away, email us ok?

Special thanks goes out to Bubba from the Livends for making the Nekromantix show in Brownsville happen! The Corpus show got cancelled and Bubba went to extra lengths to make a show occur deep in the heart of...the Texas Valley. And I hear that gig went off, showing us that the psychobilly sickness had indeed spread outside the confines of the main lonestar cities. Which is just super!

TXPSY BAND & LABEL UPDATES:
Concombre Zombi in the studio recording their debut full length due this fall. The Livends are in the process of adding upright bass to their already recorded album. Flametrick Subs are working on a new record. Coffin Creeps are talking about a demo. HairBall8 Records just signed Motor City Psychobilly band Koffin Kats who will be blazing a trail through Texas in July, including an appearance at Blood Feast II on Saturday July 24th in Austin at Red Eyed Fly.

HairBall8 Records' latest release: "Dear Johnny...A Tribute To CASH" features Concombre Zombi, Flametrick Subs, 12 Step Rebels, Satan's Teardrops, Kings Of Nuthin', Hot Rod Lincoln, and the infamous DEADBOLT. A portion of the proceeds goes to Johnny Cash's favorite charity. Pick up a copy of "Dear Johnny" in San Antonio at Hogwild Records, in Austin at Waterloo and Tower and in every freakin' other city in Texas at BEST BUY. That's right, BEST BUY...all of them! And it should be at a damn good price too! Support the Man in Black's music because it doesn't get any cooler than Johnny Cash.

Hopefully by the time you read this...we will have uploaded some of the ton of photos taken over the last couple months at gigs.

If you haven't read the follow up with Demented Are Go! in the features section...ready that bastard already! Feature of the month coming on 12 Step Rebels very, very soon...we promise! It's done...just has to be fine tuned.

Oh and get fuckin' ready...new TXPSY design coming soon!

Also in other news...12 Step Rebels recently finished their recording of "Delia's Gone" for HairBall8 Records' "Doin' It For The CASH" tribute CD. The CASH tribute which also features Concombre Zombi amongst many other artists is slated for release November 18th of this year.

Graverobbin' Bastards are in the studio recording their full length album which is set for release later this year/early next year.

There's a new psychobilly band in San Antonio! Their name is Sick City Daggers and they used to be in a street punk band called Bloodshot. Recordings are underway. Look for them at the Phantom Rockers show at Sam's on Friday, October 3rd.

New Photos have been posted in the Images --> Members and Images --> Bands sections.

Although this is more than a year old, here is an interview between The Rockabilly Review and Ryan Davis from HairBall8 Records/Texas Psychobilly.

More info coming soon!

Austin's Concombre Zombi just wrapped up their recording of the song "Flesh and Blood" for the CD compilation Doin' It for the CASH…a Tribute to Johnny being released by HairBall8 Records later this year. Other artists on the tribute include Supersuckers, Dale Watson, Jesse Dayton, Deadbolt, and Kings of Nuthin'. Keep your eyes and ears open for this tribute CD to hit the streets this fall/winter in conjunction with regional Texas CD release shows.

After recently ending their successful U.S. tour with Mad Sin, 12 Step Rebels came back to San Antonio last week for three live performances scheduled by the folks at HairBall8 Records.

Rockin' with Frodo (6/26/03): The first show with 12 Step Rebels was a free one on Thursday evening supported by Graverobbin' Bastards (thanks again for supplying the PA!) at the Back Stage outlet in McCreless Mall. The in-store could have gone better but it also could have gone worse. Both sound issues (like all in-store performances have) and technical situations (M.I.A. high-hat clutch) proved to be a couple of obstacles that evening. It also didn't help that the in-store was scheduled during rush hour on a Thursday evening in a mall that is known for "weekend" traffic. Live and learn! Regardless, 12 Step Rebels played their hearts out as usual and even utilized various store props such as Elijah "Frodo" Wood and William "Captain Kirk" Shatner cardboard cutout displays to enhance their set. Before the set was over, William Shatner was wearing a 12SR T-shirt and playing upright bass and Frodo was donning a 12SR "Don't Fuck With My Hair" T-shirt. All caught on video for an upcoming psychobilly HairBall8/Resilent documentary movie titled The Psychobilly Sickness. Until then, you can check out a few photos of the in-store in our "Images" section on the site. Also, 12 Step Rebels/Graveyard Shift CDs are available at the Back Stage store in McCreless Mall, San Antonio, TX.

Up Against the Rev (6/26/03): After the in-store, we headed over to the great Sam's Burger Joint for the psychobilly show that kicked off at 10pm. We were presented with a pretty major obstacle this particular evening: The Reverend Horton Heat was playing just down the street at Sunset Station. Probably the worst thing we could have gone up against. Despite the competition, there was a small but loyal and enthusiastic crowd for the Sam's show. And we actually got a handful of overflow psycho fans that showed up at Sam's after the Rev show in time for a part of 12 Step Rebels' fantastic set.

On a personal note, it was really a pleasure to work with 12 Step Rebels. They have a great attitude and are amazingly easy to work with. Their enthusiasm, talent, and notable chemistry onstage produce unforgettable shows that leave you wanting more (and more and more). Suicide Drive played right before 12SR with a heavy, loud, rocking set of Texas Psycho Cow Punk. Jake's growling vocals are only surpassed by his blistering guitar work. Opening the show were San Antonio's own psychobillies Graverobbin' Bastards. These guys recently lost their upright bass player so vocalist/guitarist Dick Bastard courageously switched from rhythm guitar to the upright for the band. Dick is new to the standup bass but he is steadfastly learning the monster instrument. Dick has mentioned he'd prefer to focus his energies solely on the upright so please let it be known that Graverobbin' Bastards are currently looking for a vocalist for the band…and if that vocalist is able to play rhythm guitar as well, all the better! Contact Dick for more info.

The Tank Skatepark (6/27/03): Psychobilly at a skateboard park you may ask? Well we did it. Call it an experiment but the diehard SA psychos came out to see 12 Step Rebels perform outdoors at the Tank Skateboard Park in San Antonio, TX. Along with some skateboarding, BMXing, fire spinning and good barbequing, 12SR took the crowd by storm with another blistering set of infectious psychobilly and wacky onstage antics. The highlight of the night would have to be the two crazy fire spinners from Brothers of the Flame performing directly in front of 12SR. The combination of fire spinning and great psychobilly was quite appropriate; one might say it was a marriage made in hell. Once again, I spent all my time capturing everything on digital video and was unable to snap any photos. Eventually we'll be able to put some digital stills up on this site of this event with 12SR but if anyone out there took some pics, please let Paige know. Additionally, The Tank's retail shop has the 12SR/ Graveyard Shift split CD available for purchase as well.

That's it for the first edition of TX PSY news. If you have some news for the site, please send it over to me, Ryan.
