Interview with Strangy of KLINGONZ

Strangy
TX PSY: First I'd like to thank you and your lovely lady Dollie for the invite to your birthday dinner, we had a great time. First time eating snails for me. And what was that alcohol we were pounding while everyone else was sipping proper, strong shit?? Etiquette, screw etiquette.... it was a birthday.... shots were in order!
Strangy: No problem you're welcome anytime. That was like a normal night out getting fucked up. That drink was called Calvados...it's some sort of French shit made from apples. It really fucks you up, huh?
TX PSY: YES INDEED...it lit me up pretty good.
Strangy: Yeah we were pounding them, just like a fuckin psycho should. I guess we'll pay for that later in life but, so fuckin what...we only have one, so might as well enjoy it, eh? I think it may have been Dollie's birthday, my memory is a bit fucked (that's one hitch about downing too much alcohol)...the snails were tasty, don't fill you up so much but leaves plenty of room for drink! I hope next time you're over there is a gig or something on so you can sample the real craziness.
TX PSY: I'm pretty sure it was your birthday...it was early April when I was in London... But my brain is pickled as well...yeah nothing was going on there during my stay, had fun though....all I need is beer. Well, how did the new album end up? I see it has been released, I've heard nothing but good things about it??
Strangy: Yeah, you're right! It was my birthday; I guess it's my brain that's pickled, huh?
TX PSY: I'll drink to that!!
Strangy: The new album is going cool; it's still early days yet. It has to spread round a lot more places to get a better idea. But it's true, as you say, I've heard nothing but good about it too. I'm fuckin stoked about that. I was never too happy about the sound on the old recordings. A lot to do with being naive and pissed and probably pissing off the engineer working with us. Now at least the Klingz have one good album.
TX PSY: Yeah, production on past Klingonz releases was a bit close to pure ass, not much love (from engineers) went in to the albums it seems, I still think they ALL rock though.
Strangy's other side

Strangy: Yeah the past releases were really close to pure ass, but hey, a lot of love went in to them albums. Maybe too much. The love of alcohol, the love of expression, fuck, you don't want me to bore you with all that shit. Basically we're pissheads and we really couldn't get on with normal people (sound engineers). That was then, this is now. Older and no wiser now, but at least we got on with the engineer. STAN THE MAN knew what we were doing, and he done a very good job with what he had to work with.
TX PSY: Ever thought about re-mixing and re-mastering old albums??
Strangy: We have talked about re-recording a lot of the old stuff just so that it sounds better. But when I listen to re-recordings of 50's artist I think it loses all the nostalgia of the times. It's a hard decision to make I think.
TX PSY: I can definitely agree with nostalgia, cause most everything I listen to is based on the first time I heard it and the feeling I got from listening to it during a certain time of my life and I sure wouldn't want to lose those albums and wouldn't trust a new version.....HEY! Off Klingonz for a second here.... what's going on with you and Doyley and Demented Are Go!
Strangy: Demented Are Go! What can I say? They've been a favourite band of mine since I was a teen when I bought "In sickness and in health". Doyley and I was doing this "Scumcats" thing, next thing we know Demented members are leaving right before a tour and new album. They both have good reasons for going, but we couldn't see them left like that. I guess it was a natural progression. Fuck, I'm proud to play in a band that influenced me so much, before I was even playing slap bass.
TX PSY: Well hopefully the States will get a taste of this new DAG flavour, sounds like a match made in Hell! Since we're already off the subject of Klingonz, what's going on with Celtic Bones?
Strangy: Yeah, definitely a match made in Hell and yeah, definitely the States will get a good taste of the new DAG. About Celtic Bones, they are gonna have to put on hold for the time being. Demented's tour is quite long and we have to do the new album. This is a priority. Also Doyley and myself have just agreed to do some Dead Kings gigs later this year. No rest for the wicked as they say.
TX PSY: As you may know by now, Strangy is getting ready for the upcoming DAG tour and is a bit busy, as you would imagine with all the projects going on, so we will have to continue this interview another time...so look out for part 2 of this interview and MAY KLINGONZ LIVE LONG AND HOSTILE!!!!!!!!!!! Destin TX PSY!
